Whitefish Products

At the southern end of the 90-meter-deep Lake Engeren, you will find the small family business Stengrundet Villfisk, which fishes for whitefish in the nearby lake. They fish using fish traps at about 30-40 meters, and the whitefish contains no heavy metals. The whitefish is then processed into quality products such as whitefish burgers (sikkaker), rakfisk, or smoked whitefish. The business is run by Tore, his father, and their family. They fillet all the fish by hand and have developed impressive speed over the years, filleting three fish per minute. Today, they sell their products in stores in Trysil, at the Eko-ring, and in select restaurants.
