Welcome to Idre
In the Idre area, you’ll find Sweden’s southernmost Sami village, so naturally, reindeer are found both in the wild and on the menu, reflecting the Sami culture. Around Idre, there are many fishing waters and numerous bogs with cloudberries. With the fish, you can eat römgröt, a porridge made from cream and wheat flour sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Other traditional dishes include stomp (flatbread) and kolbotten – a pancake made from barley flour served with fried pork and a sauce made with messmör, a scandinavian whey cheese spread.
